NYSCOPBA represents over 23,000 New York State employees in the Security Services Unit. Our Union was formed in 1998 and since that time has provided superior representation to the membership under the independent and democratic model. Our objectives are to improve the terms and conditions of employment, protect our members contractual rights, provide high quality representation in the collective bargaining process, communicate effectively with the membership, achieve legislative gains, and to promote the overall welfare of our members.

2009-2011 Contract Negotiations Log
 

February 25 2010- The NYSCOPBA collective bargaining committee met with representative of GOER today. We agreed to the ground rules and set our next date which is March 12, 2010.

February 2, 2010 - Collective Bargaining Committee, President Rowe, Executive Vice President Hickey, Bill Sheehan, Natalie Carraway and Ed Greene met. It was agreed by all that due to the current financial climate the best approach would be a streamlined one that focuses on compensatory issues.

As previously posted, on February 25, 2010, NYSCOPBA and GOER will open negotiations. We will continue to update the website at each step of the process.

February 1, 2010 -
Collective Bargaining Committee, Executive Vice President Hickey, Bill Sheehan and Natalie Carraway met to review the 1,275 contract surveys that were returned by 1/29/10 (324 surveys were returned in 2006). Results of the survey were very similar. The top two issues were salary increases and preserving health benefits.

January 27, 2010 - On February 25, 2010, NYSCOPBA and GOER will meet to open contract negotiations for 2009-2011 - click here to see the letter to President Rowe.

Pre Shift Briefing -Item #6 of the 2007/2009 Interest Arbitration Award is being referred back the Panel - see attached letter.

January 12, 2010 - A survey will be mailed to the membership seeking their input for our next round of negotiations. The survey must be returned no later than close of business January 29, 2010, for consideration at February 1 & 2, meeting of the newly elected Collective Bargaining Committee.
