The 38th anniversary memorial service of the Attica prison riot was held in front of Attica Correctional Facility with several hundred attending the service. NYSCOPBA officials, members from Attica C.F. and Wyoming C.F. Honor Guard, the CPOF National Honor Guard and representatives from law enforcement groups across the country came to share in this moment of remembrance.

The Forgotten Victims Of Attica put together a fine event and a reception after the service was held at the Attica -Wyoming QWL in conjunction with the CPOF. As time goes on, the service has become a reunion of sorts. We cannot imagine the sacrifice that has been endured by the employees and their families over the years from the events of September,1971. This is one event in history that none of us would want to see repeated.

It is always an honor to participate in the Attica memorial service, especially when one of the speakers said, "the hand shakes are a little tighter and the hugs a little longer" we must never forget what the sacrifice our members make for the people of the state of New York.
