Union, elected officials, and families from across the state protest Cuomo’s administration’s short sighted closure plan
Plan will devastate Upstate communities and make NYS institutions more dangerous
ALBANY – At a rally today at the Capitol, New York State Correctional Officers & Police
Benevolent Association (NYSCOPBA), as well as state leaders and families from across New
York voiced opposition to Governor Cuomo’s proposed closures of corrections and mental
health facilities throughout the state. Speakers noted that, as a result of current policies, violent
assaults against corrections officers have skyrocketed to a 5-year high.
NYSCOPBA held a Rally at the Capitol to protest Governor Cuomo’s plan to close Correctional and Mental Health facilities. Several hundred Members and supporters turned out to have thier voices heard. The event was a great success and several legislators took the time to attend and speak at the rally. Thank you to everyoine who attended and helped make the rally a huge success!
