Inmate was being disruptive and creating a disturbance while Officer was attempting to give direction to the Platoon on GI dorm. Inmate continued to argue with staff and be disruptive so Officer directed him off the dorm and in to the ironing room to deescalate the situation. Upon entering the ironing room inmate suddenly attacked officer, striking him with a right closed fist to the left side of Officer’s head and then a left closed fist punch to the right side of the Officer’s temple area. Officer then instinctively, in an attempt to stop the assault, struck the inmate with two closed fist punches to his head and neck area. Body holds were then used by Officer in an attempt to gain control of the still struggling and fighting inmate. Officer wrestled the inmate to the ground and, hearing the commotion, another Officer came to his aide and called a red dot on the radio. That Officer also used body holds in an attempt to control the still struggling inmate and was also struck in the knee by the inmate. Officer then responded and once inmate’s arms were forced behind his back mechanical restraints were applied and all force ceased at that time.
