Inmates were being escorted into the gymnasium. Inmate was observed by Officer wearing a knit cap. Officer told inmate no hats in the gym and to remove his hat.  Inmate refused and became unruly and aggressive. Officer ordered inmate to the wall for a pat frisk; inmate refused and continued with his aggressive behavior.  Officer approached inmate and inmate, using both hands, violently pushed Officer striking him with both hands in the Officer’s chest.  Another Officer called for a response and attempted to assist Officer with inmate.  Inmate began to violently resist Officers as they were trying to gain control of inmate, during which all Officers and inmate went to the ground. Response arrived and attempted to gain control of inmate but inmate continued to violently resist.  It took several Officers to subdue inmate and apply mechanical restraints.  Two (2) Officers were taken by ambulance to the hospital.  One Officer received a broken ankle, another Officer received stitches to his elbow, bruised elbow and bruised ribs.  In all, 3 Officers are out of work. Inmate was taken to the JSU and then shipped to Coxackie CF JSU.
