Safety & Security Officers 1 & 2 responded to a psychiatric emergency on patient ward with combative shields. Officers responded to an agitated patient who was threatening ward staff with a broken piece of pexiglass with sharp edges that was torn away from hallway bulletin board. Officers, including the Sergeant, on the scene successfully restrained and disarmed the patient of the weapon. During the restraining of the patient, one Safety & Security Officer 1 injured his right hand and sustained swelling, the Safety & Security Officer 2 sustained a cut finger.
