Officer was conducting security rounds in 1B housing unit. When he passed the cell of inmates room, he observed an inmate trying to hide something in his pants.The Officer questioned the inmate and he became irritate. The Officer called for an area Sgt. and at that time the inmate stepped towards the Officer. The inmate then grabbed the Officer by his left arm. The Officer activated his PAS and the inmate began to strike the Officer with closed fists, striking him in his face and torso. The Officer defended himself and tried to restrain the inmate with body holds and orders to stop resisting were given, but inmate continued to violently struggle and strike Officer. The response team entered the unit and used body holds and then swept the inmate to the ground. The inmate continued to violently struggle and not comply with orders to stop resisting. Mechanical restraints were applied and the inmate was escorted off unit. Four Officers reported injuries during the UOF. Inmate was shipped to COX JSU unit and all Officers remained on duty.
