Inmate was sent back from commissary for an unknown rule violation. Inmate stepped in to the corridor, witnessed no staff in the corridor, turned and viciously assaulted CO, striking CO about the head and face. CO was knocked to the ground and got back up, delivering 3 blows with his baton to the inmate, inmate attempted to gain control of the baton. CO was knocked to the ground again, when he was blasted in the face and knocked unconscious by inmate, who continued to pummel CO until Staff arrived to stop the vicious assault. CO suffered Medial Orbital wall fracture, continuing to the side of the nose, dislocated left shoulder, multiple contusions about the head and face.
