Inmate was exiting the shower and asked the Officer if his cell was open. The officer replied “yes”.  Inmate then stated, “I’m going to stab you with an ice pick I have in my cell.” As he proceeded down the company to his cell, Officer followed giving loud verbal commands to return to the front of the company. Inmate continued to his cell, entering and then exited his cell with what appeared to be an altered cell broom with approximately 1″ split from the top of the broom handle. Inmate struck the Officer in the right shoulder, causing Officer to fall to the floor. The second Officer activated his P.A.S. and notified the area Sgt., who responded. While the inmate violently struggled, both officers were able to use body holds to bring the inmate to the floor and apply mechanical restraints.
