Incident Began When One Inmate Became Irate and Began Threatening Staff

Coxsackie , NY – Inmates attempted a small demonstration at the maximum security correction facility after one inmate became irate and began threatening staff after returning to the cell block after their afternoon meal last week.

On Friday, September 8, the 24 year old inmate was returning from the mess hall when he became irate and began threatening staff in the cell block. A second inmate interfered with staffs attempt to suppress the situation quickly. As the situation unfolded, ten inmates joined in and stood in the doorway of their cells and refused several staff commands to enter their cells and lock their cell doors.  FULL PRESS RELEASE
