Lawrence M. Flanagan
Rock Hill, NY

Lawrence M. Flanagan of Rock Hill, the retired President of Greater Wire in Warwick, died on Monday, June 8, 2009 in Catskill Regional Medical Center. He was 71.

The son of William J. and Lillian Young Flanagan, he was born on March 5, 1938 in New York City.

He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Rock Hill and was a volunteer at the Food Pantry of the Church.

A family statement reads: ""Poppy" the "Rock" of our family, the real Father Flanagan, the love of Barb's life, man of great faith and our hero forever."

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Flanagan, at home; his children: Joan Peters and the late Tarn Peters of Great Barrington, MA, Lawrence Flanagan, Jr. and his fiancé, Stephanie of Troy, NY, Michael Flanagan and his wife, Kelley of Paupack, PA, Kelly and her husband, Fran McCauley of Pine Bush, Paul Flanagan and his wife, Melissa of Pine Island, NY, Matthew Flanagan and his wife, Bonnie of Greenville and Agnes Lawler and her husband, John of Lancaster, PA; grandchildren: Lily, Lucas, Jesse, Amanda, Michael, Kassidy, Dylan, Corey, Paulie, Garrett, Colby, Ryley, Liam, Emma, Keegan, Connor, Kaelyn, Johnny, Noah and Mayra; great-grandson, Joshua; sisters, Joan Thomann of Ridgewood, NJ and Peggy Rosselli of Long Island, NY; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his granddaughter, Rachel Susan and brother, John Coyle.

Visitation hours will be held on Wednesday, June 10, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Strong Basile Funeral Home, 75 Main St., Warwick, NY.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 11, at 11 a.m. at the Warwick Valley Church of the Nazarene, 601 Route 94, Warwick, NY. Burial will be in Warwick Cemetery, Warwick.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Rock Hill Church of the Nazarene Food Pantry, 210 Katrina Falls Rd., Rock Hill, NY 12775 or the Playground at Emeral Green c/o the Flanagan Family.
